Bespoke heritage internal doors in Aylesbury and Buckinghamshire

Today, many homeowners and occupants of commercial buildings are looking for as much flexibility around their working and living space as possible. Our high-grade aluminium heritage style doors zone off larger spaces into sections for work, rest, dining, hobbies and much more, without compromising on light and airiness.

These doors have exceptionally slim sightlines, allowing ambient ‘flow’ and an open plan feel throughout the space while separating each section to prevent acoustic spillage. This door system also allows for a number of configurations: you can have single or French doors, and fixed frames added to the top or sides. You can add more horizontal and vertical glazing bars, or keep these to a minimum if you want more light.

Why are heritage internal doors so popular now?

Steel-look aluminium heritage internal doors are very popular now for a variety of reasons. Their strong look and grid-like frames very much echo the Art Deco and Modernist movements, yet these door systems look equally elegant in the most modern architect-designed 21st century homes. They are versatile, acting as elegant partitions and stylish doors, and because they’re manufactured from aluminium they won’t warp or rust. In fact, aluminium is an incredibly strong metal that will last for an average of 60 years if looked after. And it’s hugely recyclable! In short, heritage internal doors combine a highly stylish aesthetic with practicality and ease of use.

Are aluminium heritage doors energy efficient?

Aluminium heritage interior doors manufactured in the early 20th century Crittall style are highly energy efficient, especially when combined with double or triple glazing. The design of these doors, which includes the iconic grid-like frames, can be paired with energy-efficient glazing to help maintain temperature control within a space.

Ordinarily, metal would be a natural conductor of heat. However, thanks to modern polyamide thermal breaking technology, aluminium is now one of the most energy-efficient door materials available. The method involves inserting a sheet of polyamide plastic between the inner and outer frames of the aluminium, creating a ‘break’ which slows the rate of thermal transfusion.

Aluminium doors are also 100% recyclable. Aluminium can be recycled over and over again without losing quality. Astoundingly, around 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in circulation today. It’s an incredibly sustainable material which will maintain its quality for decades.
